Just a normal Sunday afternoon. Abby made some yummy cookies. Hiram watched a fun episode of Blues Clues. (not that he normally is into kids shows on netflix, just a stroll down memory lane, he know all the songs and dance steps). Dad took a sweet nap.
Hilary however, has a cold and is feeling miserable. No fever, but a sore throat and headache. It kept her home from church and in bed all day.
Now it is time for family home evening. I am reviewing the basic doctrines of the gospel with the kids. Today I am thinking the fall of man, spiritual versus physical death. Why man had to fall. How Eve's partaking of the fruit is symbolic for us learning the difference between good and evil and learning from our experience.
Next week the atonement of Jesus Christ and how he paid the debt we each have to the demands of justice. Elder Oaks has a great talk in the Oct. 2009 conference, Sat. afternoon session on God's Law and Love. I have listened to it twice on my iphone (the mormon channel) on my way to work. I need to listen to it a couple more times.
In Sacrament meeting today I sang in the Choir. We sang "Come O Thou Fount of Every Blessing" - know what an Ebenezer is?
"Samuel took a stone and…named it Ebenezer, saying ‘Thus far has the Lord helped us.’” 1 Samuel 7:12
We sounded amazing even if I do say so my self.
My primary lesson was "I can be kind to animals". Sunbeams is such a fun class. I take some shape puzzles and games to class since the lessons and their attention spans are so short.
My hopes - all my children are active in the church, get married in the temple for eternity, and serve missions. Currently I seem to be batting about 50%, but Abby and Hiram are still young.
But I keep praying for the other 50%.
